Last Thursday, AJA students in grades 3 and up participated in a deeply meaningful program
commemorating Yom HaZikaron, followed by an all school celebration of Yom Ha’Atzmaut.
The morning began with a solemn Yom HaZikaron assembly, where students paused to honor Israel’s fallen soldiers and victims of terror.
The program included a moving moment of
silence, a memorial candle lighting, and heartfelt presentations – “The Memory Wall” tribute presented by the Shinshinim, and the story of Captain Shauli Greenglick, z”l. The emotional tone
reminded us of the sacrifices made for the State of Israel’s existence and freedom.
Following the assembly, the mood shifted as the school embraced the joyful spirit of Yom HaAtzmaut—Israel’s 77th Independence Day. K–8th grade students enjoyed a delicious falafel lunch; special shoutout and gratitude to The Shuk Kosher Market for generously donating all the pitas.

After lunch, the campus came alive with stations offering a variety of Israel-themed activities: Israeli Bingo, puzzles and games, story time, Hanoch Piven-style art, and a sweet Israeli flag graham cracker project. Each station brought students closer to Israeli culture through creativity and hands-on fun.One of the highlights of the day was the Live Museum, presented by our 8th grade students. Dressed in full costume, each 8th grader portrayed a significant figure from Israeli history—sharing well-researched biographical synopses with 3rd–5th grade visitors. Their presentations brought Israel’s story to life in an engaging and memorable way.
It was a beautiful day of remembrance, learning, and celebration—one that honored the past while inspiring hope and pride for the future.
