Social and Emotional Learning

We are an inclusive community of learners, and integrate Social Emotional Learning at every level within our school culture to empower students to navigate the world in a healthy way and enable sound decision making. Students develop strong relationships with their classmates, across grade levels, and with faculty. Graduates move on to high school with character, confidence, and the ability to self-advocate.

As the foundation for our SEL curriculum, we embrace Conscious Discipline, an approach to support children by reflecting on our own adult behavior in the school to get the outcome that desired from the child’s behavior. By integrating SEL, discipline, and self-regulation, teachers help students develop vital life skills.

Every day starts with a morning meeting, a chance for the group to come together, connect in a meaningful way, and set their intentions for the day.

Counselors from Jewish Family Services and other outside experts may visit classrooms and work with students to develop self-awareness, self-regulation, and relationship management skills.
