This past Friday, our school was filled with joy, laughter, and the spirit of Purim as students celebrated this special holiday with a half-day packed with exciting activities. From listening to the Megillah to enjoying a fantastic Purim carnival, the day was nothing short of magical!
The festivities began with the reading of the Megillah, where students enthusiastically participated by booing Haman and celebrating the heroic story of Esther. Then, they had the delightful opportunity to roll out and fill their own delicious hamantashen, making for a tasty and interactive tradition.

The fun continued at our PTO-sponsored Purim Carnival, a highlight of the day! The carnival featured a wide array of activities, including:
- Esther’s Beauty Bar – where kids enjoyed hair and face painting along with fun stick-on
tattoos - Grogger Spinning Contest – testing their noisemaking skills
- Make Your Own Crown & Mask – a creative way to get into the Purim spirit
- Cake Walk – a sweet challenge
- Two Bouncy Houses – always a hit with the kids
- Classic Games with a Purim Twist – including Haman’s Hat Knockdown, Haman’s Hoop
Toss, and Hamantaschen Toss - Kim’s Gym Obstacle Course – keeping everyone active and engaged
- Bubbe’s Bubble Bonanza – where kids created giant bubbles with large bubble wands
- Music, Popcorn, and Juice – adding to the festive atmosphere
A particularly heartwarming moment was seeing the ECP come through with about 75 preschoolers, adding even more joy to the event!
Students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade also got to explore the mysterious connections between Purim and Pi Day with their Pi-rim Stations! These engaging activities included learning about gematria, participating in a collaborative storytelling exercise following the sequence of Pi, creating artwork with circles, and answering Purim/Pi trivia in a circle walk.

This incredible day wouldn’t have been possible without our amazing community. A massive shoutout to Lindsay Gregg and Danielle Kaplan for leading the PTO Jewish Holidays Committee and making this event a reality. Special thanks to our generous sponsors: The Zell Team – for the fantastic prizes, Adrienne Darhower & Greg Jacobson – for contributing two incredible bouncy houses, Jenny and Nick – for keeping us fueled with drinks and snacks, and Danielle
Dahan – for the eye-catching signs that made everything pop!
We are also so grateful to the incredible parents and 8th graders who volunteered their time to run booths and make this day truly special. It takes a village, and we are so fortunate to have such an amazing and supportive community. We can’t wait to make next year’s celebration even bigger and better!
