Spiars, Josephine

First Grade
Ms. Josephine joined AJA in 2024. She recently moved to Austin from Israel and she brings with
her a diverse background of teaching experiences. Over the last 15 years she has worked with
students and families to cultivate a joy of learning. Her experiences include teaching Art through
interactive community murals; English and Spanish classes through PBL; and 3rd grade all
subjects. Most recently, she founded a children’s English academy in Israel.
 
Ms. Josephine believes that people learn primarily through playful and creative activities.
Outside of the classroom she teaches yoga, family AcroYoga and dance. She spends her free
time in nature, training in athletics or making art. She is also passionate about farming and is
excited to incorporate the beautiful AJA garden into 1st grade learning activities. She is so
happy to become a part of the Shalom Austin community.
 
Ms. Josephine earned her BA in English at the University of Louisville in Kentucky in 2008.
