Type of School
Austin Jewish Academy is a kindergarten through eighth grade co-ed independent school not affiliated with any particular movement or synagogue. Wherever you fall on the spectrum of Jewish practice, you will find an educational home here.
Faculty
Every student at AJA knows that they are cared for. With an average of 11 students per class, every voice is heard and valued. Over half our faculty and staff have graduate-level degrees.
Curriculum
In addition to strengths in STEM, language arts, math, art, and Modern Hebrew, AJA is known for using a project-based learning curriculum, meaningful integration of secular and Jewish studies, attention to social-emotional learning and employment of the Conscious Discipline approach to classroom management. All instruction is in English (except for Hebrew and Spanish classes).
Our Campus & Facilities
What started as 40 acres of unoccupied land in Northwest Austin, became the home of the Dell Jewish Community Campus in 2000 and is the hub of Jewish life in Central Texas. Austin Jewish Academy is located in Northwest Austin on the DJCC at 7300 Hart Lane, Austin, TX 78731. In partnership with Shalom Austin, AJA’s facilities include the pool, soccer field, running track, and stage at the JCC. AJA’s Science and Innovation Center has a state-of-the-art lab, greenhouse, and chicken coop. Additionally, facilities include a library, fully-equipped science lab, art studio, and light-filled classrooms.

Countries represented by our diverse families and faculty have included Israel, Russia, Puerto Rico, South Africa, Canada, Croatia, Serbia, Mexico, the Ukraine, New Zealand, Argentina, and more.

Communities Served
AJA serves families in communities throughout Austin including Northwest Hills, Central Austin, Downtown, Round Rock, South Austin, Circle C, Steiner Ranch, Leander, Mueller, Westlake, and Cedar Park.

We are accredited through COGNIA, and and are a member of PRIZMAH and NAIS (National Association of Independent Schools).
High School Placement and College Placement
AJA students are admitted to the best private, magnet, and public high schools in Austin including LASA, St. Stephens, McCallum High School Performing Arts, Westwood, Anderson’s IB Program, and more. Our graduates are currently attending top colleges and universities including Harvard, Stanford, UT Austin, Rice, Duke, and many others.”
Athletics
After school athletics are offered starting in fourth grade. Sports include soccer, basketball, track and cross-country, tennis, golf, football, and volleyball. AJA athletic teams train using the Shalom Austin fields, courts, and gyms.
