A Basketball Championship Run to Remember

Way to Go AJA Lions!

Our school celebrated an unforgettable showing at the District Basketball Championships, with three teams advancing to championship games and every athlete leaving it all on the court. The heart, determination, and growth displayed throughout the tournament were nothing short of inspiring.

The JV Boys Blue Team delivered an impressive postseason run, beginning with a hard-earned victory over Magellan to advance to the Final Four. They followed that with a thrilling semifinal win against the St. Andrew Highlanders, earning their place in the championship game. In a beautifully played final that came down to the very last moments, the team fell by just one point to the Waldorf Roadrunners. Though the result was heartbreakingly close, the effort was extraordinary. Watching this group grow from their very first game of the season to competing on the championship court was incredible. Along the way, they found themselves as individual players and truly came together as a unified team.

The Girls JV Team showcased grit and perseverance of their own. After defeating St. Andrew in the semifinal round, they advanced to the championship game against Waldorf. In a hard-fought battle, the girls emerged victorious with a 16–11 win, claiming the championship through teamwork, resilience, and relentless effort.

Our Varsity Team powered through a challenging bracket, earning key wins against St. Francis and Waldorf to secure a spot in the championship game. There, they faced the St. Andrew Highlanders and delivered a commanding performance, winning by a 20-point margin and capturing the district title in convincing fashion.
