“The Circle of Life” at AJA
Our students delivered an unforgettable theatrical experience with their incredible performances of The Lion King, Jr. From the very first notes of “Circle of Life” to the powerful finale, the cast captivated audiences with their energy, talent, and heart. Each student brought their character to life with confidence and enthusiasm, resulting in truly all-star performances across the board.
The musical numbers were a highlight of the show, with beloved songs like “Hakuna Matata,” “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King,” and “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” performed with impressive vocals and stage presence. The beautifully designed set, thanks to the artistic creations of AJA teacher Susan Slomowitz, transported audiences straight to the Pride Lands, creating a visually stunning backdrop that enhanced every scene. The combination of acting, singing, choreography, and stage design made this production feel polished and professional.
We were thrilled to present three performances, each of which drew outstanding attendance and filled the room with proud families, friends, and community members. The enthusiastic support from the audience made the experience even more meaningful for our performers, who rose to the occasion and shined brightly on stage.
This production was guided by an exceptional creative team. Our dedicated director, Chantel Mead, now in her 13th year leading AJA musicals, once again brought her vision, passion, and expertise to create a truly memorable show. Choreographer Dayli Ranucci’s dynamic choreography energized every musical number, while her work on cast makeup added an extra layer of authenticity and creativity to the characters. We were also honored to have Assistant Director Ellie Kaplan, an AJA alum who once played Nala herself, return to help guide and inspire our students. Her full-circle involvement made this production especially meaningful and highlighted the lasting impact of AJA’s performing arts program.
We are incredibly proud of our students for their hard work, courage, and dedication throughout the rehearsal process. Their commitment and teamwork were evident in every moment on stage. The Lion King, Jr. was more than just a performance — it was a celebration of creativity, growth, and community. Bravo to our entire cast and crew for a truly spectacular production!
