On Tuesday, our school community came together for a heartfelt Veterans Day program honoring the brave men and women who have served our country. The ceremony began with a moving flag presentation by middle school students, followed by two of our talented 5th graders leading the school in the Star-Spangled Banner.
Students and guests then viewed a video montage featuring pre-recorded student reflections on what freedom means to them and what they love about America. The video concluded with a solemn moment of silence accompanied by the playing of TAPS, reminding everyone of the sacrifices made by those who serve.
We were deeply honored to welcome three guest speakers who shared their personal stories and insights. Veteran Bob Kaplan, an AJA grandfather who served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, captivated students with his stories—mixing humor and reflection as he described life in the Navy. He expressed how meaningful it was to participate in our program and praised students for their thoughtful questions and comments.
We also had the privilege of hearing from Major Chaplain David Frommer and Captain Michael Gans, both currently serving in the U.S. Army. They spoke about their experiences in military service and the profound meaning of serving one’s country, inspiring students with their words about dedication, courage, and gratitude.
A memorial and gratitude table displayed photos and memorabilia shared by AJA families, honoring veterans connected to our community.
It was a powerful and meaningful program—one filled with pride, respect, and gratitude for all who have served. Thank you to all veterans and their families for your service and sacrifice.
