Academic Excellence & Hands-On Experience in Middle School
The middle school program at Austin Jewish Academy (AJA) goes beyond the conventional, embracing project-based learning and community engagement to prepare students for high school and beyond. Through hands-on experiences—like creating kites in math or advanced science projects—students are challenged to think critically and learn persistence.

AJA fosters Jewish identity and community through daily studies and life cycle event lessons, connecting students with their heritage in a meaningful way. Students love our longer trips to different places each year, such as Big Bend National Park, Marine Lab in Florida, and Washington, D.C., which brings their studies to life and leaves a lasting impact.
AJA offers a well-rounded selection of extracurriculars, providing both competitive and recreational sports options. Our participation in Austin’s interparochial league fosters teamwork and leadership, and we’re proud to have earned numerous championships in recent years. Our annual musical is a cherished tradition for both students and parents, with roles for everyone—K-2 students join the chorus, while grades 3-8 make up the main cast. It’s truly special to watch students grow through the musicals, evolving with each performance as they progress through their years at AJA.
Graduates leave AJA academically prepared and socially confident, ready for advanced high school programs and the future. AJA’s nurturing environment and focus on personal growth make it an ideal choice for families seeking a community-oriented, academically rigorous education with a special focus in STEM. Graduates go to the top high schools in Austin and then excel at universities including Harvard, Stanford, UT Austin, Rice, Duke and many others.
