It started with a doodle of an idea …
Years ago, an AJA teacher and students created a fun mural on the large, blank wall of our MPR (multi-purpose room). But after hundreds of gatherings in that room — from KabShab to class presentations to Tefillah to assemblies — it was showing signs of wear and tear and needed a refresh.
We wanted to keep a mural, but what kind? A nature scene? Students at work? Jewish symbols? Or how about a little bit of everything?
How about a doodle wall? That all our students and staff members can contribute to?
It was a perfect plan, but it required a whole village to make it come together.
Our Goal: To create a mural that illustrates the core values and spirit of the AJA! We also wanted to be inclusive of key partners, including Kids Connection, CAARS, Tzofim and the IAC.
Step One
We asked our students and staff to doodle what inspires them most about our school. We then expanded those ideas into a doodle library!
Step Two
We puzzled together the layout and design, making sure it fit neatly around our TV screen and looked aesthetically pleasing.
Step Three
AJA staff, parents and alumni worked together to bring the mural to life!
