4th Graders Lead Rosh Hashanah Seder

Our 4th graders had a very special opportunity to help lead a Rosh Hashanah seder with the ECP students, alongside Ms. K and the Shinshinim. They guided the younger children through the meanings of the symbolic holiday foods, recited prayers and blessings, and even blew the shofar to share the excitement of the new year. It was a wonderful moment of leadership, learning, and community across grade levels.

On Monday from 11–12 pm, our school came together to celebrate Rosh Hashanah with a special rotation of activities designed to bring joy, learning, and community spirit to our students. Students in K–2 experienced three stations: hearing the shofar, playing Rosh Hashanah Bingo, and story time in the library. Meanwhile, students in grades 3–5 rotated through MadLibs, creative card-making with New Year wishes, and a lively “Minute to Win It” challenge, which included stacking apples, transporting honey without spilling, and picking up pomegranate seeds with chopsticks. Our 6th/7th graders headed up the stations along with a staff member, and each activity gave students a chance to connect with the themes of Rosh Hashanah in engaging and age-appropriate ways.

We closed the program with a school-wide assembly in the MPR, gathering as one community to reflect on the start of the new year together and enjoying our apples and honey. A big thank you to our PTO for providing apples and honey, allowing all of our students to share in the sweet tradition of wishing one another a Shana Tova. Their support helped make this program especially meaningful.

Wishing our entire school community a sweet, happy, and healthy new year!
